Ingredients
Ingredients (use vegan versions):
- 6 to 8 good cooking apples or 4-5 cups, cubed (tart ones better)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup vegan brown sugar
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/3 cup non-hydrogenated vegan margarine
- rolled oats (optional)
Peel, core and cube the apples (enough to cover bottom of 9 x 13 baking dish to a pie height). pour water over top. Sprinkle with cinnamon and salt (to taste).
Blend cold margarine, flour and vegan sugar with a pastry blender or fork, until crumbly (add some rolled oats if desired). Spread mixture evenly on top.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
