About Online Cookbook

What Online Cookbook is, how the archive is maintained, and what readers should expect from its recipes.

Online Cookbook is a searchable archive created to make a large collection of community-style recipes easier to browse, read, print, and use. The collection covers everyday dinners, vegetarian cooking, breakfast, baking, appetizers, soups, casseroles, side dishes, desserts, and many other kinds of home cooking.

What makes this site different

Many recipe sites focus only on newly photographed recipes. Online Cookbook has a different purpose: preserving and organizing a legacy recipe collection that might otherwise be difficult to search or disappear entirely. The recipes reflect many contributors, eras, writing styles, and levels of detail. Some are carefully measured; others read more like notes passed between friends and family members.

We improve the archive by removing exact duplicates, separating ingredients from directions, repairing obvious formatting problems, organizing recipes into useful categories, and adding clearer navigation. We do not quietly claim that every archived recipe was developed or independently tested by our editorial team.

How to use the archive

Start with the recipe browser, search for a dish or ingredient, or explore a category. Recipe pages are designed to print cleanly. Because older and community-submitted recipes can use shorthand, brand names, unusual measurements, or assumed knowledge, read the entire recipe before cooking and use your own judgment.

Transparency matters

Our Editorial Policy explains how recipes are cleaned and presented. Our Recipe Sources and Attribution page explains what is known—and not known—about the legacy collection. We welcome corrections, missing attribution, and rights-related requests through our Corrections Policy or Contact page.
