Ingredients
- 1/2 pound white (edible) mushrooms
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon Tobasco Sauce
- 2-3 garlic cloves, sliced or choped
- 1/2 onion, sliced in rings
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ? cayenne pepper (as much as you dare to try)
If you don''t like it real hot, skip the tobasco and cayenne and add dried chili peppers.
Serves: 2-4.
Preparation time: 20-30 min.
Slice fresh mushrooms so that they are approximatly 1/4 inch thick. In a large skillet add all ingredients, cover, and bring to a boil (stirring occasionally). Boil for about 5 minutes, uncover and let simmer until most of the water evaporates leaving a paste at the bottom of the pan. Be sure to serve the dish in the cooking skillet so that you can wipe up the left over seasonings with the mushrooms and onion rings.
If you can, grow, dry, and grind your own cayenne peppers. This dish will taste a hellofalot better if you do.
